Which crop ratio should I use?
1:1 is the classic square for profile pictures and Instagram posts. 4:5 is Instagram's tallest portrait post, and 9:16 fills a phone screen for Stories, Reels and TikTok.
16:9 fits YouTube thumbnails, presentations and widescreen displays. 4:3 and 3:2 match the shape of most camera and phone photos, so they're good for prints.
Cropping never scales your image: the pixels you keep are exactly the original ones, so quality stays the same. To change the size afterwards, use Resize Image.
Frequently asked questions
Does cropping reduce image quality?
No. PixStrong copies the selected pixels one-to-one without scaling. PNG stays lossless, and JPG and WebP are saved at high quality.
How do I crop an image to a square?
Choose the 1:1 ratio. The crop box becomes a square you can move and resize — it always stays square.
Can I crop to an exact size in pixels?
Yes. Type the width, height and position in the boxes below the image. With a ratio selected, the height follows the width automatically.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. PixStrong processes your images directly in your browser. Your files never leave your device and we never see them.
Does PixStrong remove photo metadata (EXIF)?
Yes. The new image is drawn from the pixels only, so EXIF data such as camera details and GPS location is not copied into the file you download. The photo's rotation is applied first, so it still displays the right way up.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. You can drag the crop box and its corners with your finger on any modern phone or tablet.
